Seven local authors are collaborating to write a serial novel, Restless City, from June to October 2009, with each author writing one chapter to be released in sequence every three weeks. Chapter 1 is now available on the book festival’s website where H. Lee Barnes sets the stage with a gritty cast of Las Vegas characters: local PI Dan Brady is drawn into a quick paced story of “where is this going? and whodunit?” John Irsfeld’s Chapter 2 takes Brady and the story into more twists and turns across an uneasy, yet familiar, Vegas landscape. The recently-released third installment, by Brian Rouff, proves to be a jaw dropping narrative that is, as noted by a reader, “one killer chapter.” Successive chapters will be released over the next several months with the final chapter being read by Vu Tran on the closing weekend of the book festival.
