Book Clubs
Start a Book Club at Work – or in the Neighborhood
The book festival wants to help start some new book clubs in the community – in the work place or in the neighborhood. So, gather your friends or co-workers who love to read and start your own reading group. Select a “book of the month” to read collectively and then discuss it together — its themes, characters and other ideas generated by the reading. We encourage you to select a book of one of the participating authors in the book festival.
New or existing book clubs are invited to sign up to get the latest festival updates. We’ll send you a list of recommended books including some that are part of the 2009 festival.
You’ll also receive a special invitation to a free festival reception — just for book clubs — on Thursday, September 10 from 6:00 pm — 8:00 pm, at the Historic Fifth Street School. This includes a festival preview, a look at some “best practices” of local book club, a light repast and a reading by Brian Kral from The Iceman Cometh by Eugene O’Neill. The event is free –but we will ask you to RSVP later in summer through an email invitation.
Sign Up as a Book Club! Complete this form to be a part of the book festival.
