The public is invited to nominate an individual and an organization for the 2012 Vegas Valley Book Festival Crystal Bookmark Awards. Nominations for this annual awards project that honors a Southern Nevada individual and an organization for advancing the cause of literature in the Las Vegas Valley can be submitted online here. Residents also may call (702) 229-5431 for a nomination form. Nominees must reside in Southern Nevada. Nominations are open until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21. The two awards will be presented at the Vegas Valley Book Festival (VVBF) at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, p.m. in the auditorium of the Historic Fifth Street School, located in downtown Las Vegas at 401 S. Fourth St.
The largest literary event in Southern Nevada, the VVBF is scheduled for Nov. 1-3, 2012. Most events will take place at the Historic Fifth Street School and the Clark County Library, located at 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Many pre-festival events are planned through the year at a variety of locations. The VVBF is produced by the city of Las Vegas; Las Vegas-Clark County Library District; UNLV’s Black Mountain Institute; American Institute of Graphic Artists, Las Vegas chapter; Las Vegas Review-Journal; and Nevada Humanities, a festival founder.
